Half-price meals at decent restaurants

One barometer of an economic downturn are empty seats in restaurants. Eating out is one of the first luxuries to go when the mortgage payments start going up.

A hint that maybe this is starting to happen are the numbers of special offers out there. While most of them are merely ruses to lure the unsuspecting to places they wouldn't otherwise go with a fiver off this and that, this site has some some cracking deals:

Toptable, the restaurant booking site, and its genuine 50%-off deals.

There are hundreds of offers across the country and there are some real gems:

For example, the Blue Elephant in Fulham, London, has half-price dining for half the week and three courses for £22 at other times.
